Van Patten Golf Club to Host Earth Day BioBlitz Event

Clifton Park, NY – Van Patten Golf Club is excited to announce it will host a BioBlitz event on Earth Day April 22, 2017 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The free event is open to all families and community members.

BioBlitz is a species counting competition organized by Audubon International to create awareness among golfers and the community about the environmental value of the habitats supported by golf courses. The program is open to any golf course worldwide.

This hands-on event is a fun and exciting way for kids and families to learn about biodiversity and better understand how to protect it.  BioBlitz has four facets: Science, Education, Community and Competition.    Many of the 34,000 golf courses worldwide are making significant contributions to biodiversity through the sheer range of life that they host - from plants to birds, and invertebrates to amphibians. Many rare and protected species exist on courses, benefitting significantly from the stable, conservation-minded management of relatively undisturbed sites. The wealth of biodiversity correlates directly to the provision of habitats.
